where do we stand ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Please help make the Manifesto better, or accept it, and propagate it!

Prime Minister says tehri dam will be reviewed. How about Re-Vamping all
urban laws.. stringent enforcement of standards in urban construction?
Atleast will the public sentiment now force the people in ranks to send a
team to Japan and Californea and bring back new stringent measures and
standards-- which are far reaching, which cover each and every urban area ?
or will the public sentiment diminish because of very low EQ ?...this
diminished EQ is only an urban elite feature.

When there is a train accident, any near by village- whole village comes to
rescue people. One may not expect same group behaviour from urban elite. Bad
buildings, depleting water tables, absence of water harvesting, -- when will
the stubborn, corrupt, unintelligent urban elite
learn some basic sence from common village folks ? Other than illiteracy and
poverty we find a huge amount of common sence,
organisational skills and emotional esteem in village folks.. for some
reason. May be because of 'hands on work' they do predominantly
in line with Gandhi's ideals ?!

Look at the comparison between best players in thw world here - an excerpt
from net :

*****
"Japan is more prepared than California. Japan is the leading country in
earthquake research. The information is then distributed to the rest of the
country. All buildings in Japan are earthquake resistant while in California
most of the buildings are earthquake resistant. Japan stores earthquake
supplies in warehouses for the whole city, California doesn't have anything.
Also, Japan has a national day for earthquake preparness, which California
doesn't. From the information I just presented, Japan is more prepared."

***
"From the research my group and I have presented, I would have to say that
Japan is more prepared for earthquakes than we are. Japan has warehouses
full of food, first aid kits, etc., an Earthquake Readiness Day, and
contractors ready to build new earthquake resistant buildings over the
fallen ones. California has food, first aid kits, etc. to a certain extent
because some people keep containers of that kind of stuff inside or outside
of their house. We don't have an Earthquake Readiness Day so most
Californians don't know what to do when an earthquake occurs. So overall
Japan is more prepared for earthquakes."

Where do we stand ? I hope atleast the public sentiment helps .
