While rabies can only infect dogs, rats and other similar mammals, the 
adjective ‘rabid’ is frequently used to describe human behaviour and actions 
when it crosses the bounds of human decency and norms.  I lived in bengal 
for 7 yrs so the antics of socialists, marxists, naxalites etc are not 
hidden from me.  I use the word ‘rabid’ advisedly.

Calling a spade a spade is not rude.
