Dr Sabhlok's intervention is unnecessary

Dr Sabhlok's intervention, though kindly meant, is unnecessary: When he
says,

> We are fortunate to have people like Prof. Subroto Roy on IPI. Indeed he
> has been one of the major supporters and promoters of IPI virtually from
> its inception. How many full-Professors of elite institutes like IIT who
> will condescend to discuss issues on as open an internet forum as a
> web-archived mailing list?

I am sure he means it kindly but I have to disagree with him. My job and
rank are not relevant data here. And certainly I do not feel I am in any
way condescending to discuss issues with the mostly younger people on IPI.
Rather, if you read my Philosophy of economics: on the scope of reason in
economic inquiry (Routledge, London and New York, 1989, International
Library of Philosophy), you will see my debt to Socrates, who of course was
the original pioneer critical conversations. The truth can lie with
anyone, young or old... educated or not, and certainly on the other hand
there any number of alleged Eminences at all sorts of fine Universities who
are known to frequently if not always talk absolute nonsense.

Subroto Roy
