Origin of Ethnicity and Segregation

It is of course, a fact that the various characteristics possessed by
human
beings are not uniformly distributed among the population. This is why
various human beings exhibit various traits, including even behavioral
ones.
Given that behavioral traits often influence patterns of socialization
and
interaction, then what is the likelihood of people then preferentially
socializing with those who have similar behavioral traits to themselves?
What are the moral implications of socializing with those of similar
behavioral quality?
Suppose I am a soft-spoken person who likes to play chess and read
literature. Suppose my neighbor is a loud person who likes to go to
soccer
matches and shout at the top of his lungs. Will it be surprising if we
spend
our time with different people?
Is this the origin and basis of ethnicity? (ie. even in a situation
where
everyone speaks the same language, and there is no religion yet to speak
of,
will people not separate and congregate based on behavioral differences,
at
a minimum?)
Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Regarding ethnic segregation and aversion, which came first -- did
ethnic
groups spontaneously arise, giving rise to ethnic segregation and
aversion,
or did incompatibilities exist first, which then gave rise to ethnic
groups?
